Solve : scroll bar problems?

Answer»

I have a Dell laptop, M1330 XPS. I am using Windows XP. I know all of these are antiques! For some reason, my vertical scroll bar just DEVELOPED a mind of it's own. Most of the TIME, it JUMPS up and down on it's own. At times, it just sticks on the bottom of whatever page I am viewing and refuses to move up. I have never seen this before. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be wrong and how it can be fixed? I am not using a mouse, I am using a touch pad.
thanks, LajefarojaIf you have access to a usb connectable mouse with a scroll wheel i would try that to see if you regain a scroll function. If it does do the job they are very inexpensive and can be very tiny if size is a concern.truenorthYou could also try disabling touchpad device settings/scrolling on your mouse properties by unchecking enable vertical and horizontal scrolling to see if the problem PERSIST or not.You can also try to minimize your scroll sensitivity. Go to the touch pad settings and click on properties and make SURE that your scroll settings is not really high. If it is you can lower it and hopefully it will regain control.
