Hi

Anyone know of a fix?

Thanks

Give This a Whirl...XP? Search from Start button?Ahhh, this has happned to me once...

Have you tried "uninstalling" internet explorer?

This is either down to a virus, or someone has been TAMPERING ^_^

The windows local search requires IE to operate

Not sure if this is still relevant since I think it was IE6 AROUND at the time and I now have IE8 installed?
Bump of the century!

Bin Windows' awful search facility and use something like Locate32 instead.Quote from: Rob Pomeroy on October 06, 2011, 09:10:12 AM

Thanks I'll try that Rob.
Another alternative:

BCSearch

Note that it's "design goal" was quite the opposite of locate32. I was SICK and tired of all that indexing bullcrap that you have to go through just to search for files, and I found myself dropping to the prompt to do a dir /s to search for files in a specific directory. (note that windows 7 search has mitigated this somewhat). The idea of BCSearch (I believe I started a topic when I first set about writing it) was to be similar to the windows 98 "Find Files" DIALOG, but with more functionality.

hmm come to think of it it's about time I REWROTE it in C#...
