Solve : serveral issues, corrupt file?

Hi, I'm new to this, but I really new some help. I have an HP laptop with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002. I recently received a MESSAGE after restarting my computer telling me hpqtra08.exe - corrupt file. C:Docume~1\Randi\LOCAL~1Temp\MAR1C.temp is corrupt and UNREADABLE. Please run the chkdsk utility. I ran clean disk and remove some temp filles and old file. Could not defrag. C or D. Got a run chkdsk/f message. Tried to run chkdsk/f from the start menu but still GET the message when try to defrag. My cd/dvd player is running but not reconizing my cd but it does my dvd. Any help WOULD greatly be appreciated. Did "chkdsk" successfully start and run to completion (without interruption)? See CHKDSK produce a Log?.

Do you know how to run "chkdsk? See Windows XP chkdsk.
