Answer» I have a linksys router and 3 computers connecting to it I want to set it up so that Computer 1 will always use internal ip 192.168.1.101, Computer 2 will always use internal ip 192.168.1.102, and Computer 3 will always use internal ip 192.168.1.103 My problem is that when i try to set this up in Networkconnections, (nic card) i choose tcp/ip hit properties i can check use following ip, subnet, and default GATEWAY (which i know how to set) but dns will not let me check OBTAIN automaticly it is greyed out so if i do set my computer to use that internal ip it does not connect cause I don't know the prefered and alt DNS is there a DIFFERENT way to set a computers internal ip? or a way to set it so i can set the ip but it obtains the dns?? whoops FORGOT to add all computers are using windows XP if ya need to knowI suspect your router has a DNS CACHE, so you can set the DNS to your router's IP address.
