Solve : set process Priority?

Answer»

Ok I use "Process Explorer" I love it... It's so much BETTER than task MAN. makes me wonder why Gates couldnt make it work so fast on killing processes... Anyway I bump up the priority of Avast since its a little taxing on my comp. my ? Is there a way to permanently set the process Priority? Or is this a bad idea alltogether...On my computer Avast seldom uses more than 2% CPU usage when running resident protection. Does increasing the priority actually make any difference to Avast? The priority determines how important it is when CPU resources are limited... it won't affect the rate at which it can ACCESS your harddrive. If harddrive speed is the bottleneck, priority won't HELP.Well it seems to me that it help maybe its all in my head... But since avast has to scan everything before opening it makes sense that it should have priority.... maybe I got it all wrong, I used a comp that wouldnt hardly run and if I set the priorities just right it ran good but if you bump up to many priorities it can lock your comp up...The point is, if you don't have any other (major) programs running at the same time, then Avast will have all the CPU resources it needs available, and so it won't matter what priority it is.Ok I understand that... I TURNED off the standard shield so it doesnt scan everytime I open a program and that helps booting alot... I like the fact I can right click and scan specific files... Good Download...
