Solve : Setting up a new hard-drive with old XP--hints please? |
|
Answer» Greetings All!
For additional background on the problem I've been having please refer to the topic "finishing a hard-drive recovery process" in the MS-DOS forum. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! You already have most of what you need Quote The new drive has a corrupted clone of my old drive on it.Trying to fix this will likly be a waste of time. Use a 'live' CD to erase the drive if needed. Most likely not needed. Install the XP from the CD in the usuall way. Now let it format the partition to NTFS. The install should go with no problem. If it is the Toshiba recovery, it shoyuld already have the drivers. BTW, making a 'clone' of some recent laptops models requires three drives. Or a network server.
