Solve : Setting Up Headset Problems? |
|
Answer» I am asking this for my boyfriend. He has an EMachines computer which is from 2005/2006. He has just gotten a headset(Sweex) and has it connected to the computer. His operating system is Windows XP. How does he go about setting up the sound and playback so that I can hear him. We tried it with MSN Live Messenger and he could hear me just fine but I could not hear him. What does he have to do in order to hear me? Both he and I are beginners so we need very basic step by step layman's terms. Also, he did try the headset with watching a video in Youtube and was able to hear it. I just cannot hear him. I have an Intel Pentium with Windows XP version 2002. I really appreciate the help. What application are you TRYING to hear him in, is it a game, or something online?CLICK Start then choose Control Panel. Now choose Sounds and AUDIO Devices. This will bring up the sounds and audio devices properties window. Click on Advanced and you will be at the volume control window. At the far right of this window you will see Line in. Make sure that the mute box near the bottom is unchecked and the volume is turned up.Some computers have a microphone socket which is different from the line-in. Some headsets work better if you use this. The Windows volume control has a slider for "microphone". I had this problem when I tried to Skype using a new headset. The one thing I forgot to mention is that he is in the UK and I'm in the USA. He siad that a friend told him he would have to subscribe in order to be able to chat and that it is pretty expensive like a premium phone line. I have chatted with others over in the UK and they nor I have ever had to subscribe to or pay for anything. We have just called each others computers and been able to hear both ways just fine. My boyfriend can hear me just fine but his VOICE does not come over at all. There are times when I hear a little noise like the line is open but, then nothing from his end at all. We have run the gamut of checking the sounds and audio devices and his are the same as mine and all WORKING properly and he is able to hear music with his headphones in music and video websites just fine. It is just in MSN where he can't hear me. I cannot install Yahoo IM as I'm having a problem with my computer always saying there is not enough free disc space even though the pie is always showing ample disc space and I have even cleared a bunch of things out and defragmented and it still tells me that. I'm working on a computer given to me by a friend who had his business through it and he had left a ton of programmes and things I have no idea of what they are on here. I took off what I could that didn't interfere with anything but, still I have issues with downloads of software. |
