Answer»

Hi everyone,

I've got a problem, when I shutdown or turn off my computer it reboots automatically...
I don't know where the problem lies. Please help me guyz, I need your troubleshooting expertise...

Thanks!

LeoWe need more information, Please look here.

Also, does it happen in Safe Mode?I have a temporary solution that might work. GIVE it a try.

  • Go to "start"-->"run"--> and Type in "Notepad.exe"-->PRESS "enter".
  • Highlight the folowing code and copy it.
Code: [Select]@echo off
shutdown -s -f
exit
  • Paste it in notepad. Go "file"-->"save as"--> and save it on your desktop as "Shutdown.bat".
  • Whenever you need to shutdown your computer double-click on the batch file you have jsut created on your desktop.

Hopefully this helps as a temporary solution!! I had this problem with my old K6-2... I don't think I fixed it, but the problem was related to APM/ACPI support in the BIOS. Any time the computer would normally shut itself off, it would simply reboot. EXTREMELY annoying. If it's a newer computer look at the power MANAGEMENT settings in Windows, as well as ACPI/power type settings in the CMOS setup screens.i know this problem... please change CMOS battery. then after you ll try..Quote from: senthilvalli on August 04, 2008, 02:41:03 AM

That's unlikely to be the cause...
