Answer» I have a HP Pavilion computer with Vista Home PREMIUM installed. Some of the computers technical details are: Hard Drive 291Gb of which I have used 59Gb Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 3.208Mhz 2 CORE(s) 2 Logical Processor(S) TOTAL Physical memory 2037.88Mb Available Physical Memory 1.27Gb Total Virtual memory 4.19Gb Available Virtual Memory 3.11Gb Page File Space 2.28Gb I use AVG Antispyware (free version) and a few weeks ago I could run a full scan in about 15 minutes. Now it takes just over 48 minutes to run the same scan. I have added nothing into my hard drive in weeks. I also ran the DEFRAG yesterday but cancelled it after 5 hours. Can someone help.
Does AVG hang up on some file(s), or you can see it running? Try defrag in Safe Mode, first? Do you run built-in Vista defrag? The defrag needs to run to completion for it to help. Try running it overnite while you are sleeping. Turn off any unneccessary programs in the system tray.Broni, Yes I run the built in Vista defrag. I did not know any other way. When it is running it does not stop but RUNS through to completion.
However I will try what you and Patio suggest
