Solve : slow downloading?

Answer»

I have a Dell computer runing XP, My connection is satalite dialup broadband, ( oxymooron) I show a sat. dialup speed of 49.2 Kbps and a connection speed of 100Mpbs. my system is pentium 4 2.4 ghz and 512 meg of ram. When I tewst my connection it says my download speed is 42.0 Kbps and upload is 300 Kpbs. The PROBLEM is that in fact the best I can achieve is 6.2 Kbps download. Prior to SOMEONE else mucking with my system while I was gone several months I was gettin about 19.5 Kbps . What6 is WRONG it is driving me crazy since a news vidio can take the better part of a day to download. Who mucked with it ? ?

Have you contacted your ISP and had them do a feed test ? ?You could take a look around on this site and it's forums.

Just run the test and choose the appropriate options and it will diagnose your SETTINGS and make recommendations. PERSONALLY it helped make my connection a bit faster. It also supplies applications to make the necessary changes. But as always, you should still contact your internet provider.

EDIT: woops, it says no satellite connections. You could look here though: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/satellite
