Solve : Small icons not what they're supposed to be?

Answer»

This has happened to me after I tried using StyleXP (Genius! Lets use a WinXP program on Windows Vista! *FACEPALM*). I haven't tried too much to fix it yet, I just thought it was rather interesting. Here are some pictures.

As you can see here, the small icons in the list view shows directories as a recycle bin. However, on the bottom left, the larger icon still comes up as a FOLDER. Also, on the left pane there, all the icons (The C: drive being an exception) are incorrect.

Tiles, medium, large, and extra large are all OK though..
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And for some reason, some files on my desktop have the recycle bin overlaid onto them.

Everything seems to be functioning properly, at least. The only THINGS I've tried to fix this is rebuilding the icon cache, and trying to restore the defaults with Winbubble. Even though I have the registry opened, I haven't tried anything with it yet. If anyone KNOWS exactly how to fix it, don't be afraid to speak up

Postscript: Please pardon the ponies.http://filetypesman.en.softonic.com/If the above doesn't WORK, you can Delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Shell Icons.

I don't think it's a file association problem. Everything seems to be working the way it's supposed to, the small icons are just wrong.

Was just about to try that, actually. I just need some down time so I can do it and reboot to see if it worked.. Quote from: BC_Programmer on August 17, 2012, 08:15:31 AM

How do you know that the registry information will be regenerated?

(Out of interest, not concern; I have faith you're not just blindly telling people to delete shell registry keys.)Yup, deleting the registry key did the trick. Just kinda wanted to post this here and be like "HURR DURR GUISE LOOK WHAT I DID".
