I have a dell Inspiron B130 NOTEBOOK, with Windows XP home, 1.4 gig processor, 40 gig hard drive, 256mgs of ram. I am  running AVG free virus and spy ware and running ccleaner. Now my problem is a small one on my task-bar, my power Icon and the volume Icon have disappeared. I have right clicked on the task-bar, and then clicked properties, then customize, and made sure that the volume and power entry's say always show and then I click OK but, they are never there. Is there a way to get them back? Try this.  Go to Control Panel and double click on Sound and Audio Devices.  On the Volume tab, do you see a box for "Place volume icon in the taskbar"?  Is it checked?  If not, mark it and click Apply and OK.  Did that work?

Likewise, open Power Options in Control Panel and select the Advanced tab.  Do you see "Always show icon on the taskbar"?  Is it checked?  If not, mark it and click Apply and OK.  Did that work?Yes that seems to have solved this problem, thank you very much!
Update, after shutting down the computer last night and RESTARTING this MORNING the Icons are now MISSING again. I got the sound Icon back by using the above steps but the power Icon wont come back. Also is there a way to make this change permanent?
