Solve : Some sites opened with Ie 7.0?

Answer»

I'm still getting same error.I got that error last NIGHT but the next time I clicked on it, it opened. I LOOKED at it again on my laptop and everything appears normal but on my PC, I still get those two adverts saying the page can't be opened. I'm going to compare my settings with the settings on my laptop to see if they're the same. Keep us posted. Quote from: SuperDave on June 14, 2008, 06:17:19 PM

Some sites open like this and when this happens, I have to click back about 5 times before I get any action. Would a reset solve this problem? It appears that some parts on the page can't not be displayed or not available. I tried the same site on my laptop with Vista and there is no problem.

This happens when you change your host file to get rid of tracker adds. I think you downloaded a new host file that has the loopback address for the adds on a site so that the tracker in the adds doesn't get loaded....when this happens you get the screen that says your machine can't find the web page. When you click about 5 times what is going on is the pages goes THOUGH all the adds on the page one by one. Look in the lower left coner of IE when you click. You should see a IP flash there  127.0.0.1.

If you want to change this than rename your host file.
I never thought about that. I'm going to check my host files. Here is an example of my host file....

the tracker sites all have my local machine's IP so I get the posts on the web page like the image in your first post. When you hit the back button he reads the add sites again. If you have 3 adds on the page you end up clicking back 4 times. One for each add...3 and than one more to get to the last page....

I still believe this is an issue on the site's end...CNN and Acoustic guitar are the only two sites that I have that problem. I click "back" and I get 127.0.0.1, click the second time and get the same isp. This happens about 5 times before I get back to the man page. I even deleted the hosts folder. No change.I finally fixed my problem. I dl'd "HostXpert" and did a restore microsoft hosts file and everything is cool. The 127.0.0.1 clued me in as to how to repair it. Very well Just one week in MRU and I've already cleaned up one problem on my computer. It's well worth the money. Cool, dude
