Solve : Someone help me!! I have no sound playback!?

You see about 6 months ago, I got a new motherboard for my computer, but then I noticed something strange, anytime I wanted to play music or videos,  would get no sound! I KNOW my speakers worked fine before the motherboard replacement so I don't know what the problem could be. I don't know much about computers so could anyone help me out here!!! Please I can't take it anymore without sound 

PS: If this is any help at all a video editing program that I use called Sony Vegas says that a program called "Microsoft Sound Mapper" does not exist. I would be very grateful if any of you very computer experienced people would help me.first you NEED to provide more info, about what you are using,what os your using. Start off by downloading and running  BELARC--->GoHere

Now copy and paste the report down to 'virus protection' and

Is all that really necessary?Only if you need US to assist.
We can't see the machine from here...even on clear days.

P.S. There are quite a few issues with Sony Vegas if you haven't heard already.I was afraid of this, my computer blocked the program. See my parents have this program up that blocks just about anything you want to download. I guess I'm at a loss here huh?Just EXPLAIN to your parents what it is you want to do...they can be very understanding as long as you let them know.
