Answer» I checked for updates and saw I need SP2, which I thought I already had! Downloaded the update and tried to install. Then up comes a box telling me there is a problem with the trigger for the install and the Win XP I have might not be genuine! Computer came from a shop (some time back admitted) so I presume it was genuine. What can I do to install SP2 now please? Whilst shop was there for a few years, it has now closed down, so can't ask them about it. I have had the SUGGESTION that if I can find the receipt Microsoft might replace the version I have? No luck finding reciept yet. Probably chucked it once warrenty was expired!
WIN XP Pro IE6 AVG Anti Virus AVG anti spyware AVG anti rootkill Zone Alarm Firewall Spybot AdAware Spyware Guard Spyware Blaster Cyberhawk BlackLight RemoveIt Advanced Windows Care CCleaner pantherman..... Your machine has failed the WGA test , which probably means that you do in fact have pirated software . Unless you have documented proof that your software is LEGAL , your only option now is to purchase a legal copy of Win XP Pro/SP2 and do a format and reinstall of a legal O/S.

Oh well, back to the filing cupboard looking for that receipt! Must be quite a few pirate copies out there then as the shop was selling for at least 3yrs to my knowledge. THANKS for the ADVICE though, at least I know what is happening.pantherman...... One thing I neglected to ask you was ....Do you have the cd that will have the O/S on it ? If you do , how is it labelled ?
dl65 I did have the CD and am now busy looking for it. I made the mistake of thinking that buying from a small local shop would be okay! Maybe I should stick to the larger suppliers? When (if?) I can find it I will let you know about the label. Thanks.
