Quote from: patio on May 17, 2007, 04:46:32 PM Most likely to a folder it creates....the best spot for this would be another partition/drive. There is only 1 partition for the drive of 60gb. I have run the demo for GetDataBack and it seems to be finding a lot of files from previous partitions, so hopefully I can recover as much as possible.http://www.grc.com/cs/licenseinfo.htm There is the money back guarantee and an e-mail address.OK, Thanks.Well I got really lucky as GetDataBack recovered most of the important files I had on the deleted partitions. As the 160gb hard drive itself is in good condition, it currently has a 10gb partition with 140gb unallocated space. As I have BACKED up my recovered data to a different drive, would there be a problem if I was to delete this 10gb partition and recreate and format a new 100gb partition using Disk Management. My current C: drive is the drive I have backed up data to but is very slow, and the 160gb drive is set as a slave. If you have backups of everything you need from the 160 then delete all partitions and set new ones that are more manageable such as 80/80 or 40/120 or whatever... Make sure to make the first partition active and if it's going to run XP 20G should be a bare minimum... Once done with that then use the 160 drive manuf. utilitities to "clone" the other drive to the first partition of the 160... Then remove the master/OLD drive and set the 160 as master... You will now be booting to an exact replica of your old C: drive but with a slight performance boost since the 160 is probably a tad faster. You can then after testing everything WORKS correctly you can format the old drive and use it as a slave storage drive. And I would definitely check both drives with the free diagnostics at the appropriate drive maker's site. Thanks for the help! |
