Answer» I will first start out to say I don't know much about computers, but I will try my best to explain my issue.
CPU Type: Intel (R) Core (TM)2 CPU CPU Speed: 1.80 Ghz Cache RAM: 2048 MB OS: Windows Vista (Home Basic) Video: Geforce 8500
I was doing a windows update and my power went out. When I try and turn my computer on it gets to the windows loading screen, then the screen goes blank and nothing happens.
When I try SAFE Mode: It gets stuck at crcdisk.sys (I have waited for 1+ hour)
So I figured I WOULD just reformat (with windows XP, because I don't have a vista disk).
When I try and boot from CD with windows XP, I get this error: Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF78DA63C, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
When I press F6 at the windows XP CD start-up, I get: Cannot detect any mass storage devices. " "
Could this mean my hard drive got fried?
Any help would be greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance, ~Terry ur hard drive has been fried mate
freeforall, it is way too EARLY to pronounce the drive dead.
atari101, Is your hdd a SATA drive? You say you press F6 while the XP SETUP is loading drivers. Do you have the floppy with the drivers for the storage controller inserted in your floppy drive? Do the BIOS detect the drive? I am not going to lie, all of what you said makes no sense to me. How can I tell if my computer detects the drive via BIOS anyway? When you first power on your computer the BIOS will list info about the system, including what hard drives it has detected. On many NEWER computers this indo is hidden by a splash screen telling you the brand name of the computer or motherboard. Try hitting ESC if you get such a splash screen.

Why did you do that?
