My system is a P 333 which was UPGRADED from win95 to win98 a couple of years ago
I installed a MS DOS program which wont allow me to go to win98.
i tried many times to edit my config, command and autoexec files and have messed it up so BAD all i get on boot up is c:\windows
I cannot get into SAFE MODE any more and the step by step configuration option is about 50 y/n questions long.
i have tried the scanreg/restore 3 different dates with no luck.
can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to get back to normal windows 98 please.

Will it load Windows if you TYPE "win" at the "C:\Windows" prompt? Or for Safe Mode: "win /d:m". HTTP://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;180902
You might have messed up the "msdos.sys" file. You don't need any autoexec.bat or config.sys files to load Windows. Try renaming them to autoexec.old and config.old and see what happens.
