Answer» Hi, I'm on a Windows XP Home Toshiba Satellite laptop, and have been dealing with this problem for a long time now, so I thought I would try my luck here....
I KEEP being unable to connect to web pages just out of the blue, for hours and sometimes all day everything works fine, then nothing, the only way I can connect again is if I reboot my computer, then I can connect again fine, for a few minutes or again all day, it seems random, sometimes I have to reboot 5-10 times a day, thats so frustrating....
I use a Bell Sympatico wireless modem for my laptop, and also for my Windows XP pro desktop computer, the thing is my desktop NEVER has this problem, it always gets on web pages no problem, its just the laptop....
When this happens to my laptop my wireless CONNECTION always reads connected, with great signal connection, so it doesnt appear its a connection problem....Plus if I am running uTorrent at the time that is still uploading / downloading fine, so the connection is there....But Utorrent isnt the problem either, as this happens just as often if uTorrent isnt running at all...
It doesnt matter what browser I am using, IE or Firefox, same thing, and I have called Bell about this and they say its not the modem, it MUST be an issue with the laptop....
I am at a loss as to what the problem is, can anyone help? I'm at the end of my rope....
Are you using a router? If so, next time the problem occurs try resetting the router instead of rebooting the computer and see if that works. If it does, it's the router. If not, well...... I don't know. Not SURE, its just one modem, for the two computers, it runs on ethernet if that helps, but will try that just the same..... Its a 2WIRE 2701HG-G Modem....OK, I tried resetting the router, didnt help, so had to reboot, any other suggestions? Start from scratch.

Try unplugging the modem for a minute, unplug the router for a minute, reconnect both and reboot.
