Solve : Swapping HD?

Answer»

Hi,

I have a silly question. Howcome when I swap a hard drive from one computer to the other, the other computer doesn't see it? Bothe HD are installed with Win2K and bothe drivers are master drives.

RichardYou can only have one master drive for each IDE CHANNEL. If you can access both drives, you can have other problems, but this is not the way to boot two operating systems (safely). You may not be able to access either one THOUGH, depending on the system.Quote

Are these OEM computers with tattoed hard-drives?

If so the drive info will probably have to tie in with the BIOS info, so each drive is PARTICULAR to the machine it was originally FITTED in.
