Help us help you. Below is additional information and suggestions on what you should list when asking a question on the COMPUTER Hope forums.

What operating system are you using? For example if you’re using Microsoft Windows, what version are you using?

If you're getting an error what is the error message?
Basic details on your computer, manufacturer (Dell, HP, custom built), how much RAM, CPU (Intel/AMD), etc.

If you're having a problem with a software program, game, or utility what version is it? If you're using Windows this information can often be determined by pressing the F1 key.

If you're having problems with a hardware device such as a printer, modem, video card, etc. mention if you have tried the latest drivers.

When did the issue start occurring? Did you recently install a program, new hardware device, or visit a web page?

i m using win xp sp2 there is no error messages shown system hangs when i click on shutdown buttonHow long has this been happening?

Did you MAKE any hardware or software changes right before this started?

What is the brand and model of your computer?

Why do you think that?
defwatch.exe is part of Norton AntiVirus from Symantec Corporation. It detects out-of-date virus definitions for Norton Anti-Virus software and warns you about them. Required only if you don't update your virus definitions manually on a regular basis.

Is that your computer or the company's? Do you have IT people at the company?SEE if these changes help:

1) Start - Run - Regedit
Navigate to the following Registry key:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Double click on the AutoEndTasks entry and replace the 0 with a 1 in the Value data text box

For the next two, if the dword value indicated does not exist, create it:

Double click on the WaitToKillAppTimeout entry in the right pane and change the Value data to 2000

Double click on the HungAppTimeout entry in the right pane and change the Value data to 1000

Reboot

2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
Right-click on WaitToKillServiceTimeout and change it to 2000Quote from: mohit on August 18, 2009, 12:42:44 AM
