Solve : System Error. Code: 5. Access Denied.?

Answer»

I get the message stated in the subject every time I open up certain applications, namely blizzard game softwares.

I haven't touched anything as far as game files go, and they seem to run just fine regardless; I'm just wondering why I get all these windows pop up saying there's a system error and WHATEVER access is denied(sometimes I get up to four of these for opening up one application).

Could someone tell me what system error code 5 is and what might be the cause of it and if there is any side effects? Are you the administrator?Yes sir I amBoot into safemode by tapping F8 repeatedly on startup and before you see the Windows logo.
Then go to Device Manager and see if any devices have a Yellow ! next to them...
If so re-install the proper driver for those devices.
This can be done while you are still in safemode.Quote from: patio on November 07, 2007, 08:05:33 AM

He is getting Error 5: Access Denied, not a device failure.

Surmise, what anti-spyware and anti-virus programs do you have running?"Ahem"
See what Microsoft says about Code 5 errors.Read the below LINK and see if this pertains to your

Code 5
The driver for this device requested a resource that Windows does not know how to handle. (Code 5)

To fix this, click Update Driver to update the driver for this device.

Code 5: Access Denied, not Code 5: The driver for this device requested a resource that Windows does not know how to handle.Sorry for the lack of updates.

I don't have any anti-virus or scans installed at the moment.

I did the spam F8 -> Boot into safe mode -> uninstalled the driver with yellow !(Raid SiS? I don't know what the *censored* that is, but I don't use it ANYWAY..?), and that stopped the POPPING up of system error code 5 windows.

I do get the computer telling me that "there's a new hardware," but it disappears about 2 minutes after booting... So it's not much trouble(should I just reinstall the Raid? Anyone knows what this is -_-?)Well patio, you were right.

Surmise, right click on the driver with the yellow !, click Properties, Driver tab, and click on Update Driver. The RAID Sis driver is being used if you have a SATA hard drive in that machine...it's usually found on the MBoard driver CD that shipped with the machine.
