Solve : System Restore For XP? |
|
Answer» I was running out of hd space,so I deleted Microsoft Office 2003 because I never used it,when I did so it also deleted Outlook Express which I use.So I went to system restore and went to a restore point from the day before, but when I did that it kept asking for Office cd but I can't find my recovery cd.So I went to pc help& tools/compaq system recovery not realizing that it change my computer to as SHIPPED condition,I can see what was on the computer from before but most INFO is gone. When I TRY system restore it wont let me go back to the day before I caused this mess.Is there a way to restore before I screwed it up? I don't think it was reformatted, because I still have the same amount of free space on me hd. What Operating System?I'm not exactly sure what you did, but you certainly didn't format your hd - not even sure why that was mentioned. Uninstalling Office does NOT uninstall Outlook Express. If you restored your system to its original state you should still have OE. Again, I'm just not sure what you've done.I did the compaq system recovery from start pc help & tools. I can go to to C:\documents and settings\compaq owner\desktop and still see what was on my desktop before I screwed up.But a lot of the things on it don't work properly or the data is gone. Are any of your files or documents on the PC. What do you mean 'data is gone'?? Is there just an icon?? What happens when you click in it?Some of the programs will run by data the things I saved in the program are gone,a couple of the programs had to be re downloaded. This happened on 1/08 I just want to find a way to do a system restore to 1/07,but now when I go to system restore it will only go back to 1/08. and not back any earlier. You can;t after doing a reinstall... |
