Did you fdisk the drive? If not you most likely have a restoration partition on the drive. You have to find out what key to press (F11, 10, 2) during reboot. If you used fdisk and repartitioned the drive you will have to get a recovery CD. I don't know if emachines offers them as I work mostly on Dell, ACER, Compaq/HP, GATEWAY. All the manufactures I have mentioned at one time or another offered a recovery CD (with full OS install on it) for a small fee of 25 to 35 (compare that to 100+ for Windows XP Home) The few emachines I have worked didn't require partitioning and formatting. Many PCs do not.

Not knowing your model number I can only give you general information.

Did you fdisk the drive? If not you most likely have a restoration partition on the drive. You have to find out what key to press (F11, 10, 2) during reboot.
