Answer» I get this message/system32/hal.dll as it tries to boot Windows XP Professional. I have tried to load the recovery disc and I can't get that to come up. I have tried safe mode- nothing. How do I get my computer to come back up. I was installing Norton Antivirus 05 from the internet and it froze and upon restart it GIVES me this/system32/hal.dll Please help. You've not been very detailed so this is the best I can come up with. Can you post us the exact error message?
Anyway, it MAY be down to a trojan horse program: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email PROTECTED]
Or, if it's just missing: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_haldll_missing.htmSorry, its telling me the the following file is missing or corrupt. /system32/hal.dll. I put in the recovery disk and type chkdsk /r and it recovers up to 34% and then says some of the files are unrecoverable. I guess I'm toast. I can't do safe mode or LAST good config. It's just hopeless. There is a website that has a bunch of free downloadable dll fills. http://www.dll-files.com
The file you need can be found here. http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?hal
There is a instruction file that comes with it telling you what to do.
Hope this helps! Options are this>>>>>>.http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
