In a dell inspiron 6000, recently installed operating system window XP pro. The systems files in my computer (c d e f g) drives open with search when we double click the drive. And the desktop resolutions is low. Cannot be reset It shows maximum resolution 1280x800.  But the icons still show like that of a lower resolution. After chaning to a lower resolution 1264x764 the icons still remains the same, like no setting change is being applied.
can anyone HELP?

the operating system is the re-installation cd of Dell Latitude LAPTOP. So the wireless driver of my Laptop(inspiron) was not working, I hve installed some other wireless driver and the ATI graphic card drivers is not installing.
In the display properties plug in monitor show only the defaulted intel (R) 915 GM/GMS,910GML express chip FAMILY in 1 and 2 - and 2 is not activated.
While trying to install ATI Graphic card it says ' Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current HARDWARE or software configuration.Please make sure you have the required hardware or software'

Any ideas?So it is not a discrete real Windows CD? Too bad.
