Solve : Systems Tray?

Using WINDOWS XP Professional I have a number of programs selected in the msconfig start up section but none APPEAR there when booted up. The only one that shows there is my LAN icon. Has anyone any ideas how to fix this?They may be running but no icon is available or needed. Are they, in fact, running as seen with Task Manager? Quote

No they are not rshowing the Task manager windowWhich programs are they?  What happens when you directly run them? Quote

Yes they run when I click on them but don't show in the system tray. Programs like Windows Defender-Post note-Awido-Incredimail- and sometimes AVGIve Heard of this Bug, if you google it you'll find out all about it.

Its Because the Programs Request an icon on the TASKBAR , before the Taskbar is Ready , so it just Skips them. its apparently a windows problem

i found this the other day , when my outlook went all stupid

Also now not able to access regedit can you tell how to active this?

Can't remember but tried most of them on the site, also now my windows update won't work in the all programs Quote

Try!  I Read Trough all the Fixes on that Site... , i don't know how any if them could Affect Windows Update..

*censored* for All your Icons being Missing. There are a Few Reg-Keys mentioned on the Site that if they Were set to a Value Greater than zero then you would have no Icons at all

Thanks for your reply, I can't get into regedit to be able to get to the above. I did a XP Prof. repair and all the Icons are back in the system tray. Before the repair I was not able to get into regedit after the repair I now can again.  Thanks.
