Solve : Task scheduler not installed on server 2000??

Answer»

I have a 2000 server (took over admin duties) and there appears to be no task scheduler installed. There is a folder in control panel that is not labeled but if you mouse over it, it reads task scheduler. CLICKING on folder does nothing. Ideas? See, if Task Scheduler service is running.
See also, if taskschd.msc file is present in Windows\SYSTEM foldertash scheduler doesn't appear in services at all.Do you have MSTask.exe file in:
C:\WINNT\system32\

If you go Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools, is Scheduled Tasks listed there? No, scheduled tasks is not listed under system tools. MStask.exe is not in winnt\system32 but is in winnt\servicepackfiles.Are your Windows Updates current?
If so, try to copy/paste MStask.exe from winnt\servicepackfiles to C:\WINNT\system32\
You may need to use Safe ModeI can't do it before Monday, I'll reply at that time. Thanks for the help.No problem..Check Here...I reviewed the article you suggested but I didn't see anything that pertained to task scheduler and I payed attention. Is it a tool that installs with resouce kit? No.I'm not sure, if my advice will work. It may, if Task Scheduler (MStask.exe) is one file application, but it's worth to try.
If you have Win 2K CD, you may also try sfc /scannow.Quote from: BRONI on February 08, 2008, 06:32:23 PM

No.
I disagree....Where is it, then on that page?OK I payed closer attention, are you suggesting I use one of those tools to get at the root problem? There is one ,delete server, that appears to be misnamed that actually has to do with unregistering services.
