Solve : That stupid "access denied" error!!!? |
|
Answer» maybe, backup everything and reformat will solve this. Not a good sign. Not a good sign. Ummm... Just before I do that, what do you mean by: "Do you have your data backed up ? ?" That makes me worry. The drive diagnostics is not going to harm the drive. However if the drive is failing that is why i asked about backups. There may not be much time. A system i worked on just this week had a clicking drive that had just started the day before...it's dead now.Oh, okay. Yes, I did backup my documents. I'll see what I can find to make a bootable CD. Either Intel doesn't have one or I am just to lazy to look at the entire website.Intel does not have one. What is more, I can't do ANYTHING now. Can't even open folders that I created! No, my hard drive is not failing. I might just try a clean install of XP. But thank you to all who helped. John.Who makes the hard drive ? ? As far as i know Intel doesn't...Quote from: patio on October 04, 2007, 05:55:51 AM Who makes the hard drive ? ? They don't? Because when I look under "DISK DRIVES" the manufacturer is "standard disk drives", but when I look under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers there something called "Intel 82801DBM Ultra ATA Storage Controller - 24CA", whatever that is.Quote from: kuszmania9999 on September 30, 2007, 10:15:14 PM maybe, backup everything and reformat will solve this. I plan to do that soon...I remember I was messing about with file extensions when I got this error. It was because every time I opened a folder it would pop up the search companion.Quote from: dairyman on October 04, 2007, 09:27:26 PM Quote from: patio on October 04, 2007, 05:55:51 AMThat is the IDE controller that runs the HDD.Who makes the hard drive ? ? Open the case and look for a label on top of the drive...I ran a clean install of Windows XP and my computer is now WORKING. Thank you to everyone who replied.Quote from: dairyman on October 04, 2007, 09:59:18 PM I remember I was messing about with file extensions This and other tinkering is probably the root of ALL the problems.
