Solve : The Sims 2 Uninstall Problems....?

Answer»

I need some help! I have a Windows Vista and I am not that familiar with it as I am with Macs...

I had The Sims 2 Deluxe Edition and The Sims 2 University installed on my computer for a while. Well the game screwed up and I decided to completely reinstall it. However, in a moment of stupidity, I "uninstalled" the game by DELETING the entire folder containing all the files for it to run and emptying the trash, without running the uninstall program. Now I am unable to install the game again, since the computer says it is still installed.

How can this situation be remedied so that the game is uninstalled and there is absolutely no trace of it EVER being on my computer, so that I can reinstall it?

Thank you!Quote

You said it!
If you have a good backup system already in place, yourcould go back to a time when the program was still working.
Without that option, you would have to rid the registry of references to the program. Not a simple task.

You can try some of the free or trial uninstaller programs that will work on Vista.

Normally, everybody should do it this way:

Hope this is some help.
Also, check the Sims forums for a custom uninstall program.
There are several. forums. Google for 'Sims Forum' (no quotes)Yay! Thank you so much, I will try your suggestions and see if it works. Also try getting the discs.

Tip of the day !!Well it sounds like the computer think it's still installed because of the REGISTRATION files or WHATEVER. So try go to Control Panel and click the remove a program. If it shows up there just uninstall it and you should be good to go.Quote from: Vikken on November 19, 2011, 08:07:13 PM

but wouldn't there be a problem when unisntalling? computer couldn't find the program's uninstaller because you have deleted it already, manually???Quote

I can see why you would think so but in my experiences windows completely ignores the deleted content because it still removes the registration files. And therefor still does it job.
