Solve : this computer is a hand-me-down and slow? |
|
Answer» Someone gave me this computer and it SEEMS everytime i use it it gets slower help plz Your computer specs are OK. Cookies cannot do that...however someone could be scarfin his bandwidth...ran my superantispyware pro and it found NOTHING, and neither did my server's (cogeco) security bundle, contacted cogeco and they had me run 'speedtest.net' and the results are: Ping 41ms, download speed 17.16 Mbps, upload speed 1.05 Mbps, Grade B, ISP is Cogeco Cable. i'm just on a normal modem and don't think anyone could be TAKING any of my bandwidth, please help. facebook is super slow. now what pleaseVery odd. Your speeds are at least five times faster than what many DSL users have. Just on a hunch, try to reboot your PC and use Safe Mode with networking. That cuts off any services that are not essential.cannot boot into safe mode, tried holding and taping F8 and both took me to a place that was just asking me which drive i wanted to boot with, ie. network card, cd/dvd, don't quote just a rough memory WORK there i will post exact if you need any help helps tyYou can do a repair install of Win2K...sounds like thats whats needed. Although whenever i get a 2nd hand PC the 1st thing i do is a wipe and a clean install... Up to you...up to you please, i will do whatever you think we should i don't see a winxp pro sticker on it anywhere anyhooo so i think i'd like to try the repair install of win2k. thinking i would need an xp pro 3 in order to wipe and clean install.... do not know how to do either reallyDo you need the data that's currently on there or no ? ?no Quote from: patio on June 24, 2012, 05:21:47 PM You can do a repair install of Win2K...Quote from: darcomputer on June 21, 2012, 04:58:03 PM ...version 2002 sp3 ...I think is is WinXP, not Win2k.OK...let's find out if he has a Win XP CD next...have a winxp pro cd but it is sp2 i am double checking, think this is sp3 brb. yes this is sp3 Boot to the XP CD...delete and re-create the C: partition...then format it and continue with the Setup...
