Answer»

as the topic states i am running a 250g sata drive in my laptop i originally had vista but i dont like the format or the performance i tried to go back to xp but it is saying that it wont recognise the hard drive
any help would be appreciated There's not enough info to assist i'm afraid...
Are you saying you tried to MAKE a SLIPSTREAM CD or you used 1 to try to install XP ? ?
If so how was this CD made and what flavor SATA drivers does it contain ? ?
They have to match your MBoard...it INTERFACED properly with my mboard when i was running vista. it ran fine with vista but i would rather RUN xp so i did a full restore and used a slipstream program (it works we tried it with another computer) and it just one recognise my satai created a disc that slipstreamed and still cant get xp to work
and what do you mean by flavorYou're terminology is confusing....
"What" interfaced with your MBoard when running Vista ? ?
Again "What" slipstream app was used and where is the XP info from ? ?  Factory or MS CD ? ?
Flavor meant did you use the proper SATA drivers...(the ones from the MBoard manuf...)  and the proper ones for XP ? ?
The SATA drivers may be different for Vista.

Just so you know restore or not you cannot slipstream an existing XP install and expect it to run...it doesn't work that way.
You need an original XP CD to create a slipstream installation CD.This sounds like they slipstreamed SP3 into a XP install and for some reason think that this gives XP SATA capabilities.I'm just confused...   paradox - did you use a utility line nlite to include the sata drivers in the slipstream?Wait, I dont think there is an XP Corporate.
There is home and pro.
"Corporate", I think, is usally a moniker of a pirated Windows copy on Warez sites.
Correct me if I am wrong.

OK.  I'll correct you.  You're only a bit wrong.  The Corporate versions are XP-Pro that require no Product ID, since it's imbedded into the CD.  When Corporations purchase a site license, they get a Corporate version to install on hundreds or thousands of company computers. You are 100% right.

There is Absolutely no version of windows XP called "Corporate" there are Home, And Professional. (and, in some countries, Starter)

That's it. PERIOD.

"Corporate" is just a way it's packaged on the disk- akin to Retail, OEM, etc.

Q: What is the difference between Windows XP Professional Edition and Corporate Edition?
A: Hi Eric, I've NEVER heard of Windows XP Corporate Edition. It might be a simple branding device for Volume Licensing but the only actual client SKUs for Windows XP were Windows XP Starter Edition, Windows XP Home Edition, and Windows XP Professional Edition.
okay let me tell you the whole story (hoping to clear up the confusion). my laptop ran vista at first. okay with me so far. i would rather have it run xp so i have an xp disc and used an online slipstream program to slipstream sp3 onto the disc. we have checked with an older computer and it slipstrams properly. but when i attempt to install xp on my laptop it wont recognise the sata drive. hopfully it is better explained now, sorry for the confusionI'll ask for the 3rd time...how was this slipstream CD made ? ?
I believe the root of all your issues is the CD... Quote
used an online slipstream program to slipstream sp3 onto the disc.

They slipstreamed Service Pack 3; not the SATA drivers.

Service Pack 3 does not make it possible to detect SATA drives running in AHCI mode. Either set your SATA controller to "compatible/IDE" in the BIOS or get the actual SATA drivers for your board onto a floppy or slipstreamed onto the disc as well Quote from: ThomasTheXPUser on March 03, 2010, 04:59:44 PM

You are right. I say we close this thread.
Let him go back to the site that provided the "Corporate CD" and ask them for help.
