Solve : Tried to reinstall windows xp disk and it would not install all files? |
|
Answer» A friends computer was acting weird so he tried to use the reinstall disk that came with it. During the installation he was getting a lot of errors and WOULD have to skip the file. He called and said he needed a hard drive. I took ONE over and spent a few hours trying to reinstall windows and it will only partially install it. This computer is around 10 yrs old has 512 memory hard drive was 40 gb not sure about the cpu. I did everything I could think of and I am thinking maybe his disk is corrupt ...it did the exact thing on his old hard drive. Help!! Quote I did everything I could think of and I am thinking maybe his disk is corrupt It could be DAMAGED, try reading the disk on another machine. Could also be the cdrom, 10 years is a long life for an optical drive which might never have been cleaned. Good luck. But the install is from a CD. - Right? The CD drive is giving the errors. It's the drive...Thank you!!! Hi, It clearly seems that the CD you are using to install Windows XP is damaged. So please try to arrange some other CD Disk and try installing the OS. If that does not work get you CD ROM Checked, because may be your CD ROM is not functioning properly. Just read most of his posts in other threads.Don't TAKE this badge off of me....Hi, I actually mean to say that after you arrange new CD ROM Disk if it still does not work, then get your CD Drive checked. |
