Solve : Trouble getting computer to boot? |
|
Answer» Hi the other day we had our electric go out for about 20 mins, When it came back up I went to turn the computer on and it would not boot up. When I removed hard DRIVE, power supply etc. and put in another computer I had everything booted and was fine. The computer will turn on but just a black screen on the monitor. After being frustrated with it I left it off for awhile and went back then I did get a screen saying I had to put in the CMOS settings for date and time. I did this and the computer came up just fine. I turned off 5 times and REBOOTED and everytime it worked. I unplugged the computer and put it back where we had it and when I went to reboot several times it would not boot up again. I am kind of lost of what else to look for. Could a power surger MESSED the CMOS up? Could it also be something as simple as replace the battery on the mother board. Any HELP at all would be appreciated. ThanksIf it worked until you unplugged it, I see no harm in REPLACING the battery.Carbon Thanks so much! Actually I did try it earlier and got a batter for $3 and guess what? That was it. I was so glad at least it was a cheap fix so I'm thankful. Thanks for the help.Heh, all right then. |
