Solve : Troubleshoot modem?

Answer»

Hello Computer Guys,

I am about to resolve one issue with modem problems I have been having, and concerns the following;

Troubleshoot modem or Internet connection issues

Call Waiting:

If your telephone system has call waiting, it should be turned off while you are online because the call waiting signal can cause unexpected disconnects from your ISP.
You currently do not have call waiting disabled.

To disable call waiting, select one of the following by clicking on the down arrow.

These in box;

 *70 (This one is on.)
#70
1170
Other Don't Change

What are they ? Will appreciate your help.

JpHere's over a million LINKS to show you how. Try the first hundred or so.

It is obvious that I can turn it off, I simply wanted an explaination from some technical knowledge.

I went to the sight and chose the first E-HOW! my web interface froze and would not respond, and my computer has just recovered from a serious error!

I was expecting a technical answer that would give me a little insight as to how my computer works, so that when I learn half as much as you guys I will be independent of causing you all of, "chit-chat" that probably has you thinking I am a real pain !

I am not going back there !!!!!!

I'd rather sit here and wait for a chitchatter to come by or I'll take a chance and pop one of the option buttons.

Basic topics that can be easily researched on the web, etc. should be attempted, rather than expecting someone to give you a personal tutorial. Your involvement is part of any education.  GX1_1,

I am smarter that to create a fued, and create hard feelings, are you telling me that I will FIND a technical answer to,
what this represents ?

Anyone seeking an education is always glad to have a, "personal tutorial", however I wasn't asking for one.

Here's good bit of education:

Don't use a dial-up modem.

Get a cable modem and you don't need to know any settings on your computer.  Plus, it's fast.Here's a little bit, Mr. Hope
when your out there trying to FIX your computer modem because you were using Outlook Express and you have no option but to except AOL as your IP, and your fax modem goes out of business because MS has Outlook Express Services tied in with their services. And you don't know what the, :exclamation, ( ) is the matter with your computer.
