Solve : troubleshooting help?

Answer»

I am kinda computer illiterate. I forgot to shut down the computer before I pulled out the power line. Now I can 't reboot the computer. Please, any tips to fix the computer would be very much appreciated. When you start your computer, do you see anything at all?
If not, try the following:

On the back of your computer, there should (in some cases) be a little black switch near the place where the power cable goes in.
Flip it back one way, then the other. Now try starting your computer

If there is no switch, try unplugging the computers power.

If these do not help, it brings the conclusion that the power bar you are using has a power surge protector. Switch the unit off, and then back on, and PRESS any "Reset" button it may have. Thanks for the quick reply, ZYLSTRA. Will try and will let know. one thing i need to ask to be sure. What's the power bar you are MENTIONING here?Quote from: jltrinh on June 19, 2007, 12:30:29 AM

A power bar

(Image source: http://www.ted-kyte.com )Thank you all but somehow it didn't work. Could it be something else? the computer is just dad no signal, not even the light on the computer.

My friend gave me her old Windows98 but she didn't remember her password to log on. How do I set up a new password/username? Thanks again. At the Windows 98 Login Screen, press ESC (escape)
(or click Cancel)
In many cases, this will bypass the login screen.

This will only work with some computers. It depends on the setup you're the man Zylstra. One more question. how come the Windows 98 don't RECOGNIZE the drive. I put the disk in but it didn't pick it up.Quote from: jltrinh on June 19, 2007, 11:39:06 PM

A CD drive, you mean?Think this is gonna be a long one...
Hi Zylstra,

Yes, the CD drive. By the way, the escape didn't help me escape the log on screen.
