Solve : trying to load os xp home edition?

Answer»

Hello i am trying to load windows xp home edidtion on an 600 mhz computer

I deleted and wiped out the hardrive

and started to load the cd it loaded to 96 percent then quit

so i turned off the computer and cleaned the cd and used a different cd rom

when i put in the cd rom

I heard a small snaping sound and saw a green spark and when i tried to turn on the computer nothing

so i assumed the power supply was blown but i had a couple extra power supplies so i put one in and all i could get to turn on

was the power supply fan
the green light right above my turn on button
tried another power supply
and i got the hardrive green light to turn on
but it wasn't making no noise
and the cdrom woundn't turn on if i unplug the cd rom but leave the power cord pluged into it the cd rom it will turn on do you think i fried something other than my power supply.

the only thing that looks like it's getting power is the green light above were i turn on my computer and the power supply fan is running
when i turn off the power supply the fans will kick in for a second and the green light on the hardriveWow - I can't even get through your question. PUNCTUATION please.Quote from: Allan on September 09, 2009, 02:40:43 PM
