Solve : Two Windows XP to chose from at startup?

Answer»

A COUPLE of weeks ago I (thought) I RESTORED Windows XP Home on my Dell laptop.  The (supposed) restoration fixed the problems I was having, and of course I had to call Microsoft because I had EXCEEDED my number of installs for the Full version of XP I had installed on the laptop when I had to change hard drives.  Now when I startup the laptop, I'ma faced with a screen that asks me to choose between one of two Windows XP operating systems.  Whichever one I choose, the result is the same.  How can I eliminate this screen?

Thanks,
JackYou must edit the Windows XP BOOT.INI file to REMOVE the duplicate entry:

Be careful not to make any mistakes when you do, or your computer will not be able to boot to Windows until you reinstall or REPLACE the BOOT.INI file.

How did you restore the system?
