I am trying to GET my other computer to work My husband ran it in safe mode, now we have a screen that says C:\WINDOWS>_ and have no idea what to do next. The mouse wont work and we cant use arrow keys, other than throwing it out of a window we have no clue HELP !!!!!! PLEASE :-?Have you already tried restarting the computer?
You say the arrow keys and mouse don't work, is this a USB KEYBOARD?
Try using a PS/2 keyboard and mosue instead
What version of Windows is this?Yes, it is a USB keyboard and mouse. . .it is the only one that I have access to.  I've tried restarting the computer and it gives me the same message everytime.  Obviously, something needs to be put in there and this is what I am trying to figure out.  Everything that I have tried so far comes back with a message that says: Bad command or file name!  Can you assist me with this.

Where you are starting at.C:\Windows..........


At the MS-DOS prompt, type cd\windows\command

Once in this directory, type scanreg /restore this will restore an earlier version of your registry. Once completed, reboot the computer and this should resolve any issues that may have occurred with your registry.
