Answer» hi, You need to learn how partitions works. You are only allowed 4 primary partitions or 3 primary partitions & 1 extended partition. You already seem to have used the second type. Try making it a logical drive instead of a primary one. If that doesn't work you'll have to delete one of your partitions to create them the proper way. Lets pretend they don't know what there doing.hi, thx for your help, actually i have extended that 50gb back to my c drive now.... can u pls help me to create a new partition now ... i need to add 50gb to the partition where i have installed ubuntu..I don't like to extract information from a person. With that said make sure any follow up replies include the necessary & clarified information or don't expect a reply from me. Do you WANT to ADD that 50gb to the linux partition or do you want to CREATE another partition in that 50gb? Both your posts conflict. You say one thing in one and another thing in the other. As I said before, you currently have 3 primary partitions & 1 extended partition. The extended being backup (d). I said you can either have 4 primary partitions or 3 primary & 1 extended. By adding that 50gb to c you haven't changed anything for your partition situation. You are still where you were before. I don't make a habit of extending & shrinking partitions. With that said why didn't you use those 50gb to EXTEND the linux partition? I'm going to assume you tried but got an error message? I think you can only shrink or extend partitions that are next to each other so you couldn't extend your linux partition with the 50gb because the windows partition was in between? Is your linux partition very important to you? If not delete it. Then you can shrink your windows partition like before to have 50gb of unallocated space. You will now be ABLE to create that 50gb partition because you will have 2 primary partitions & 1 extended, leaving room for 1 more primary. Also, do you know what that 118mb partition is? Did you create it or was it there when you installed windows? Chances are that if you have a pc from dell or hp then that partition is a recovery tools partition. You can delete this instead of the linux partition & be able to create that 50gb partition you want. However, I caution you that deleting this partition can possibly leave you UNABLE to boot to any OS if it holds the boot record. So if you're not sure what it has in it and you don't know how to recover it if you delete it then I suggest you leave it alone. |
