First time here.

Can anyone help with changing the desktop icon identifiers from characters to English. Also, these characters appear in IE for all the menus and url addresses. This happened after updating with auto updates on Microsoft Malicious Software security update Feb 08, 08. I tried to do a system restore and it fixed it but after my computer did another update (same as mentioned above, I was now unable to go back to a previous date cause all other system restore POINTS appears to have been erased.

Firefox works with a small alteration in font, ie; does not distinguish between read and unread mail in YAHOO. Besides that surfing is normal(with Firefox, IE+can't read menu bar)
