Answer» A couple of months ago, I lost contact with my ISP (comcast cable). Called and Tech came to house. He could not fix, but installed part of Windows XP, so now I have a copy and portions of another copy. Comcast said it was not their PROBLEM, I should not have let Tech install anything. Now, I can't install anything, get error message. In control panel, there is nothing about Windows XP (add or remove programs) Please help. JANN75Do you have a legal copy of XP to reinstall?Yes, bought Dell Dimension already loaded plus CD's to reinstall, I guess for something like this. JANN75This would be the time. Do you have any critical data to back up first? If not just put the CD in the drive and restart.Ok, but how do I uninstall one or the other copies that is already on there? On the COMPAQ that I had before I bought the Dell, it had a CD (came with it) that was something like the Restore program, but it would just wipe the drive clean. I don't understand DOS as how to clean up the drives. Thank you for your help. JANN75If you have a restore CD it will wipe out the drive and reinstall everything like the DAY you got it. If you have a Windows CD, you just START the computer with that in the drive and format the drive from there, and then it will reinstall.
