Answer» My mom just got a new PC and i've spent the past few days updating everything on it. (was never connected to the net...until now). Anyways, I just went through a WORLD of MESS installing Vista SP1 on own PC. My problems were with my Virus and Spyware protection. I had to completely uninstall both, just to update my PC to SP1. After doing so, my Virus protection program has had a couple of problems. I've already installed the same software on her PC, and I just got the SP1 "available update". Perfect timing huh? I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to install the update without the possible mess I had previously. Thanks. Thanks BroniI didn't say anything....LOL Quote from: Broni on DECEMBER 18, 2008, 09:44:51 PM QuoteThanks BroniI didn't say anything....LOL Lol. Shows how much i pay attn. Sorry patio. I dont know why i thought i didnt know how to disable it. I've done it many times. I guess my real problem was disabling them in the startup program list. Then I remembered msconfig. So basically I asked for help on an issue I already knew the answer to. Thanks though patio. No problem... But i would advise in future not using msconfig when starting/stopping/revising any services as it can lead to bootup issues and other problems because it wasn't really designed for this task...and it sometimes has issues remembering changes you may have made which makes diagnosing a real pain... Instead run services.msc from the command PROMPT. It's cleaner and the issues i mentioned usually don't surface. Good to hear you're fixed up. |
