Answer»

hi,is it possible to UNINSTALL preinstalled vista from my pc,..thanks thetedreformat..Entirely possible...
What exactly do you want to do and why ? ?
How new is this machine ? ?

You haven't supplied much info for us to go on...help us help you.the pc is brand new,i took it to my local pc shop to get dualbooted with win me,But i got a phone call from the shop saying that it cant be done, cant rember the exact words he SAID..something to do with the driver's will not work correctlly with the 2 o/s..i thought it would be an easy job for someone that has a repair shop :'(apparantlly not,...thats why i wanted to know if it would be possible to clear out the preinstalled vista and load in win me....sounds crazy but it looks as if that's the only option left....the reason for wanting to get rid of vista ...compatibility...if i format the pc will that clear out vista,{preinstalled}...any help would be greatly appreciated...theted If you want to uninstall Vista only because it has compatibility than that's not a smart idea.
Vista is becoming more and more compatible with several devices and in our home network we have 1 PC with Vista Home Premium and in the beginning it could connect to all our printers now a few months later it is able to connect to 2 of the 3 printers
And he can't connect to the 3rd one because it is shared trough a XP PC.
Maybe they will also fix that Issue but I'm not sure about that.

Jonas Check the manual on that machine to see if the BIOS will support hard drive selection at startup...
If so there is an easy out for you if this is really what you want...

Buy a second hard drive.
Collect all the WinME drivers including MBoard sound and VIDEO for that machine.
FDisk the new HDD to FAT 32 and format it on another machine to prepare it for use.

Remove the Vista drive.
Install the new one as master and boot up with the WinME CD in.

Follow the INSTRUCTIONS to completely install ME.
Then install all the drivers you collected and re-boot.
Check each device to make sure all is running well especially the network if you plan to go online.

When you are finished you can add the Vista HDD.
You will now be able to boot into either OS using the drive selector in the BIOS at startup time

Note: In this setup if you boot to Vista that drive becomes C: and the ME drive becomes D:
And vice-versa...booting to ME makes the ME drive C: and the Vista drive D:

As long as you stay organised you should have no issues with this setup.

The other thing to remember is the ME Windows will not see the Vista drive as one is FAT 32 and one is NTFSthanks alot for the info patio,i'll give that a try...theted The only reason i would suggest LEAVING Vista on is you may void your warranty if you go ahead and remove it...check with the manuf.
