Solve : Unknown Zone (Mixed)?

Answer»

can anyone tell me what this means
Unknown Zone (Mixed) found at the bottom of the window when accesing a webpage

windows 98se

Generally speaking, a web PAGE often carries items from other locations; ads for example. This means is that although the web page you ACTUALLY fetched may be trusted, some of the items on it from other sources may not be. In other words, as it SAYS, it's a mixed zone.
Do you have an example? No not an example, but what caused all this was my mate on her win 98se computer was accessing this url http://www.corbymesupportgroup.co.uk/
to check out the new button that I had put in on her web page when she clicked the button it didnt do anything and then she noticed at the bottom of the window this Unknown Zone (Mixed)

I have Windows XP and I have no message at the bottom and can access the button on the page like it should be done.

So I am trying to fathom out what next to do.

IE6 on XP-SP2 is a different animal. I note the site is hosted on Freewebs so I suspect advertising banners. On this RIG, all adverts are blocked so I'll take a look tomorrow on a "semi naked" 98 box.

One thing gleaned though. Do you really need to put your full details on public display? I would carefully consider it if I were you. Quote

I have said that to my mate and made known the reasons why but she says its ok.   I like you do not consider that its safe, but I am going to keep on at her about it.

I am not sure what you mean by " some of the items on it from other sources " as there is nothing on the page from another source, only the small banner at the bottom so could that be the cause,

Her system is win98se with IE6, AVG7free antivirus, Sygate Firewall and Spybot Search-Destroy all current and updated and also has the google bar which stops pop ups.

I also have another computer that is the same Specs as hers and the button works on that and no signs of mixed zone.

The only diffrence between those two is the ISP hers is 56k dial up provided by OneTel.net.uk and mine is cable broadband provided by NTL.com but I wouldnt have thought that would have made a diffrence.
