Answer» I have been trying for months to fix my computer-that I often LET my older kid play games on. But everytime I try I get an error message saying unmountable_boot_volume! oxooooooED ETC. etc. I have tried everything imaginable to fix the problem-I've tried formatting mainly and adjusting the boot order to do so-recently I found an article that states I may need a 80-wire, 40-pin connector cable for the UDMA hard disk controller. Is this true-ya think? I really am stumped and dont know what else to do. Any feedback would be helpful-my brother who is a uber-computer nerd cant even figure it out-so THANKS!! BTW-I run windows xp on it and it is a fairly old bot.http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q297185I tried that-this where I found the article about the 40-wire connector and having to upgrade to the required 80-wire,40-pin cable. Thanks tho. If you've tried formatting, REINSTALLING your OS. Have you tried running a check on your HDD?
Usually can be fixed in recovery console/DOS with: chkdsk /r fixboot y
if that still fails your HDD needs replacing.Ive tried all of dem cept the booting thang. Can u TELL me how? I dunno how. Teehee Tanks
