Answer»

ok... here we go:

I have dell 5150 laptop {3.06 ghz} <4200 rpm 2.5> hard drive that I am trying to grab the DATA off of... I tried to re-install windows over the existing copy... = got some error...

2. chkdsk /P or /r did not work = (says the disc has bad sectors)

3. purchased usb 2.5 hard drive adapter to connect to new laptop = (usb device not recognized) (drive doesn't power up)

4. purchased usb 2.5 hard drive enclosure ... (green light on drive lights up and I can hear the hard drive spinning, but no EXTRA drive in my COMPUTER... eventually windows freezes and I have to either unplug the drive or shut down windows)

5. my next step is to find a way to copy files (via plug laptop drive into hard drive C:) in the recovery console to another usb external hard drive...

any suggestions... any know books, etc... forum or e-mail [email protected] thanksHave you tried the below in a DESKTOP using the laptop drive as slave?
