Answer» My windows vista OS has been very unstable lately. Its a 64-bit version of vista. System specs on profile.
Whenever i open a program such as IE8 it says program unresponsive, then it closes the program. Iv downloaded Firefox and Google chrome. Google chrome is by far the most stable. Im using the chrome right now to write this. If anyone has any ideas please tell me. Links would be MUCH appreciated if any are needed. Thanks guys. NateHave you tried resetting IE8 to factory settings?
From the desktop, click on the shinny Windows symbol in the BOTTOM left CORNER, type in Internet Options.... When you see it in the menu, click on it to open it. When it opens click on the advanced tab and then click on the button to reset IE8.....When it finishes try OPENING the browser again and see what you get this time...Didnt do it. The THING is that itl do the same thing to everyprograme. I cant open up anything with out this happening. I would reinstall seeing as i only have a few GBs or stuff on this rig. BUT i dont want to risk it all. Try this next..
Go to START, type in RUN
When you see RUN in the menu click on it and type in MSCONFIG Press enter
Go over to the "start up" tab and click on "disable all", click "apply", "OK" and restart the computer. Next try opening some of those programs to see if anything has changed....Thanks! They all worked,But id like my sidebar. Should i disable all and sort out witch one causes the OS to be so unstable? Thank you for your help.Yeah, try to re-enabling them, one at a time, restarting computer each time.Ok i did that and it worked...for awhile. i disabled somthign and my system was altered. the windows vist program bar was basic. you know the tan color. Any help on unistalling and reinstalling, or a return to factor default. You realize, that if you do so, all your data will be lost?
Do you have Recovery DVD? What's computer brand, and model? Was Vista 64 its original OS?Yes i relized my data was lost but i hadnt deleted it off my other CP I reinstalled vista and it works like a charm. thanks for the help guys. NateVery well
