I have installed printer adapter card but if i print unwanted letters were printed ( [emailprotected],, CE, C @). first i installed the card in pci slot..2nd i installed driver..3rd connect the printer...visit DEVICE manager PCI ECP Parallel Port (LPT3)...change printer properties PORT to LPT3..any body can tell me how to fix this problem?thanks in advance..^_^It seems you have been here before. We can go faster if more information is on the first post. What make of computer. Laptop? Desktop? Why do you need an adapter card.

Why are you even using an old PP printer? Which model? Is this a special printer for POS application? What does the documentation say?

Most Desktops already have a Parrnell port, so it is unclear why you installed a PCI adapter. Did you mean PCMCIA adapter on a laptop?

The preferred METHOD is to use a USB to parallel adapter for a laptop. Also works good on Desktop, if needed.

Also, which OS are you using? It makes a difference. And you have to have the right driver for the printer.

Parallel printers have some special needs. One is you never discount the multi-pin cable while printing. Most often the printer can not reset from that kind of error. That is shy a USB adapter is preferred.
I'm using desktop my mobo is P5G41T-M LX and my printer is epson LX-300..mobo has no parallel port and printer has no usb adapter. I am using Windows xp prof. and MCS9865 driver for my parallel adapter card..i came to another site. and it seems like the driver was failed i don't know if its true i did email the moschip company and w8 for the driver. btw the driver cd that was provided when i purchased the parallel adapter was not FUNCTIONING thats why i downloaded the driver from the moschip web..thnx4 the help Geek-9pm any further advice? Here is a site that deals with these kind of issues.

Notice that they also recommend the USB to PP printer adapter. The list that have is for HP printers, but the concept applies to any of the standard PP printers made in the past few years.

The adapter they recommended is a USB on one end and the Centronics connector on the other end. The SELL for about $15 and provide a solution that does not require installation of any special software. Check and see which Centronics connector it has.

Besides Amazon, you can go to this site:

Look for USB to parallel printer. Most printers use the large Centronics connector.

I thin k the most practical solution is to forget the PCI card. You have spent enough time on it and it should not be that hard to do. It should have worked the first time.
