Answer» I'm not sure I'm on the correct forum. I have an old dell P111, I'm using xp. I have 192 MB ram. I went to the task manager and looked at Physical memory.
Total-- 194792 available-- 13256, I don't know if that number is low? Memory slot 1--64 mb, memory slot 2--128 mb.
I have DSL,but, SOMETIMES it sure is slow. I do defrag once in a while. I'm not sure if it is possible to upgrade the memory, It's an old computer. thanksWhat version of Windows do you have? Besides defragging, do you use any spyware REMOVAL tools and do you have an anti-virus PROGRAM installed? Do you do regular disk/file cleanup using Windows Disk Cleanup or some other program such as CCleaner?
Do you know the maximum memory your computer can have? If not, visit www.crucial.com and use their memory advisor. Hello, thanks for the reply. I use windows XP, I also use a free antivirus program. I did use the clean disk program and it helped a bunch, thanks.
Max memory is 512 mb, I'm using 192 mb. Because this a dell computer, if I upgraded the memory, do I have to use dell memory? Because slot 1 for memory is 64mb, would you upgrade to 128 mb or more? Price is a concern. thanksNo, you do not have to use Dell memory. Just be sure to get the RIGHT type of memory. If you buy online, sites such as www.crucial.com and www.kingston.com have good memory selector tools to help you get the right memory.
If possible, I'd buy a 256MB module to boost your total to 384MB.
